Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’s Box Office Collection 1st Weekend
Yash Raj Film’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshy is running today for the fourth day and expects collection of Rs. 3.5 crore approximately before the day ends. Dibakar Banerjee’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’s Box office collection is strongly affected by Fast & Furious 7 right from its release date, which is about to set record of becoming highest grossing hollywood film in India. Detective Byomkesh was released on 3rd April, Friday and made some decent income of Rs. 4.20 crores nett in India on its opening day. Movie has been released at 1400 screens and is starring Sushant Singh Rajput in a first ever detailed role portraying a character of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy who successfully unearths two sinister interweaved plots involving drug mafias and foreign military forces trying to take over Calcutta city during the second world war. Story of the movie is based on a fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshy created by the famous Bengali writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay.
While the opening day churned out well box office collection of Rs. 4.20 crores which was seen as a good sign for a period drama and an unusual crime thriller. Day 2 for Byomkesh Bakshy however did not prove a better one than Day 1 with just a slight increase from 4.20 crores to 4.75 crores. Day 3 brought bit more increase with Rs. 5 .5 crores which is definitely showing a very slow but stable growth in its box office income which makes the first weekend collection to reach around 14.5 crores approximately.
Day 4 of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy is expected to bring in approximately 3.5 crore collection which will easily make the total 4 days collection to approximately 18 crores.
Though, the movie has fared much well in some states like West Bengal and in some cities like Pune, Mumbai and Delhi and also acclaiming critical praises, it has been hit by the astounding success of Fast and Furious 7 at all the multiplexes across the country.
Inspite of being given a very tough and surprising competition from Fast & Furious 7 , this Sushant Singh starrer has not failed to get noticed at box office. If it would not have been an amazing success of Fast and Furious 7 on Indian screens, this period based spy story would have definitely generated a very handsome collection at the box office all over India.
While the film has everything which a crime thriller needs like loathsome murders, conspiracies, local politics, undercover seductress, mafia and a brilliant script, it also brings out realistic settings of Calcutta and vibrant performances from lead actors like Sushant Singh Rajput, Anand Tiwari and Neeraj Kabi.
