First TOISA Winners 2015 : Times of India Honors India’s Sports Legends & New Talents
The first ever Times of India Sports Awards is a bid to pay tribute and honor to the Indian sports persons of all fields by Times of India. This is the inaugural TOISA organized by Times of India. According to Times of India Group MD, Vineet Jain, the TOISA Awards aim at giving recognition to the sportspeople across India. The inaugural event of TOISA was organized at Delhi to honor its first winners in full glitz ornamented with led lights, dances and beams.
The prominent winners are Milkha Singh, Saina Nehwal, Mary Kom, Sarita Devi, Sania Mirza, Virat Kohli and others too. The shooter Jitu Rai has won TOISA sports person of the year at the inaugural Times of India Sports Awards., while Pankaj Advani has been honored with TOISA Sports person of the year (popular choice).

The TOISA trophies were received by every winner at the inaugural ceremony on 7th May 2015 evening which was a star studded event mesmerized with presence of sports stars and celebs of the world like Carl Lewis, Sourav Ganguly, Monica Bedi, Milkha Singh, PV Sindhu and all winners. The TOISA 2015 has been mentored by Carl Lewis who has been voted ‘Sportsman of the Century’ by the International Olympic Committee in 1999.
The Juries of Times of India Sports Awards 2015 include sports legends like hockey player Zafar Iqbal, cricketer Sourav Ganguly, Athlete Anju Bobby George and tennis player Ramesh Krishnan.
