12th June 2015, Friday saw release of Mahsh Bhatt’s intense emotional drama on relations; Hamari Adhuri Kahani worldwide. Since the trailer and music of the film Hamari Adhuri Kahani already gathered positive responses and popularity among fans, box office predictions were put on high place. Let check out if the film has lived up to its expectations on its first Friday.
Here is the first Friday’s income at the domestic box office which is a decent start for any movie :
Day One Collection – Rs. 5.04 crores (In India)
Occupancy Rate – 15-20%
The brighter box office performance came in states like film went on low in metros like Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore. However, in spite of being an average start, the film surpasses the holly wood release Jurassic World’s opening day earning in country.
However the film was expected to collect Rs. 8-10 crores at the opening day which is apparently not fulfilled.
Coming weekend’s collection will prove film’s success with audiences as the movie has received mixed responses from critics and audiences. The passionate story of unrequited love with a sad woman and mother in focus; depiction which goes quite in contradiction with the current movies portraying strong self made women. Vidya Balaan’s depressed character even juxtaposes against her own earlier portrayals of bold and confident women in Ek Kahani, Pa and Dirty Picture.

Hamari Adhuri Kahani stars Emran Hashmi, Vidya Balan, Rajkumar Rao and Sara Khan. Film succeeds well in bringing out stellar performances from the three lead stars. Yet another pleasant attractions are film’s sad-sweet heart wrenching music, on-screen chemistry of the leading pair and story depicting high emotional turmoil of bereaved and met-again lovers which will probably succeed in attracting audiences to the theaters. As it is, the film is doing well in Central India instead of the prominent urban centers of country. Films based on unfulfilled fiery love like Bhansali’s Ram-Leela, Veer-Zaraa and Ishaqjzade are often liked by Indian folk and hence film is likely to pick up with audiences who enjoyon lost-love sagas.
A good chance for film Hamari Adhuri Kahani also comes with success of Jurassic World remaining restricted only in multiplexes. Elsewhere the audiences are going on Hamari Adhuri Kahani which has opened better chances of handsome collection at the end of the first weekend.
The previous week’s multi-starer release Dil Dhadakne Do has fairly stands at Rs. 57 crores for solid one week at the box office, while the block buster Tanu Weds Manu is about to reach Rs. 150 crores at the box office in three weeks.

Expected 3rd Day Box Office Collection : 7-8 crores
The total first weekend collection is projected to be around an approx. Rs. 20 crores
The film in fact is a performances based movie. In spite of some rave and some disappointing reviews, Vidya Balan and Rajkumar Rao have won accolades for their straight show ups.
