Indira Gandhi national open university was established in the year 1985, by an act of parliament. The university initially started with 2 programs with 4,528 students. Bachelor of Arts (BA) (with major in Hindi, English, Urdu, Economics, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Psychology, Public Administration, Political Science, Sociology). BA in Tourism Studies & Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com). Bachelor of Library & Information Science (BLIS); Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). BBA in Retailing (BBARL) & Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP) (preparing students for taking admission in IGNOU’s selected programs).
