Gionee launched its flagship product Elife S7 on Saturday in an event held at Hyderabad. Gionee is a pioneer in creating a slim designed phone. After the huge success of Elife S6, Gionee decided to launch its successor with a better specification while keeping the same slimness factor in the mind. First unveiled at MWC (Mobile World Congress) earlier, the Elife S7 is priced at Rs. 24,999 and will be available in three different colors– white, black and blue. However, the question should be asked to the Chinese manufacturer that who will buy phone at Rs. 24,999 in India? Especially, after seeing tons of high end phone at a vicinity of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000, it would be really difficult to understand as to why a company would go for such aggressive price range.
Gionee Elife S7 Specs and Features
While the company managed to keep its slim profile, they packed some impressive features in the unibody design of the device. The Elife S7 device comes with 5.20 inch full HD SuperAMOLED display, 1.7GHz 64-bit Octa-core Mediatek processor which is enough to run any modern day games and apps. In fact, the device packs enough punch to be considered as a high-end smartphone device.

Features Review
Overall, the Gionee Elife S7 packs some impressive features. Unfortunately, it fails in some aspects. The device is as long slick as its predecessor, which had 5.1mm thickness. On the other hand, there is no external microSD card slot available which is a good enough reason to not buy this phone if you are using smartphone primarily as a gaming and apps device. Company is yet to announce the 32GB variant but we expect it to be 2-3k higher compared to the current price.
Initial impression about the device is good. Upon reading the experienced people review, it seems like a solid device. The camera quality is exceptional with 500ms capture time and 300ms focus time. Interestingly, the device comes with an HD display with corning gorilla glass. The corning gorilla glass offers a wide viewing angle which is an added advantage. With a small 2,700 mAh battery, it would be difficult to operate the phone for a long time. However, the company seems to be promising a better battery life with Amigo 3.0 user interface which comes with a battery management. Only time would tell whether it has enough battery power to play game for 4-8 hours continuously or not. In a press note, they also mentioned that they will be soon launching its successor Elife E8 very soon.

Bottomline and Our View
With Chinese manufacture like Karbonn, Xiomi launching plethora of device in 10-20k INR range, it would be difficult to pull the crowd towards 30kish range smartphone. Moreover, lack of microSD card slot and 16GB internal storage, it would be a difficult choice for a hardcore gamers. Even, the 2,700 mAh battery doesn’t seem to be giving justice to the full HD display. On the other side LTE or 4G support and dual slim slot is a perfect option for the Indian users and dual SIM devices seems to be performing well in Indian market. The device is slick and has a sturdy material that backs up the price. But will you buy device at Rs.24,999 from a Chinese manufacturer that has little to no service center available in rural and small cities? The device comes with a nice camera and it is performing well even in the low light so photography lover may opt for this device. In a nutshell, Gionee Elife S7 is a really nice device in its Rs. 24,999 price range but it would have been a best choice had the price been under Rs. 20,000 range.
